Research papers are published in our BOFIT Discussion Papers series, while topics of current interest are addressed in the BOFIT Policy Brief series. The full publication archives can be accessed here. BOFIT blog entries in Finnish or English are posted on the Bank of Finland Bulletin website.

BOFIT not only assists the Bank of Finland and other public institutions; we also serve private businesses, academic bodies, the media and interested individuals both in Finland and abroad. The publications are free of charge and available on BOFIT’s website. Notifications of new publications in BOFIT’s publication series can be ordered via the Newsletter subscription page.

BOFIT’s publications are protected by copyright. Publications may be read and printed for personal use. Unauthorised commercial use is prohibited.

Peer-reviewed research

An objective of BOFIT’s research activity is to publish research results in the field’s international journals. The list of peer-reviewed articles demonstrates how research activity has strengthened since 1999, when the BOFIT Discussion Papers series was established. The series’ annual archives contain information on all discussion papers published as peer-reviewed articles.

Digital archives of publication series

All BOFIT publications can be found in digital (PDF) format in the Bank of Finland's institutional repository. The Bank of Finland’s Unit for Eastern European Economies changed its name in 1998 to the Institute for Economies in Transition and in 2021 to the Institute for Emerging Economies (BOFIT). Geographical emphases have also changed over time; monitoring of the Baltic countries’ economies ended in 2003, and since 2004 Russia and China have been particular areas of focus.
